Step 1:

FREE 15-Minute Phone Consultation

Complete the contact form on this website or email info@mjmtherapyllc.com to schedule your free 15-minute phone consultation in which you will share current concerns regarding your child’s speech and/or language difficulties, and ask any necessary questions.

Step 2:

Evaluation

A comprehensive ​evaluation will be used to ​assess your child's ​speech and language ​areas of strengths and needs and to determine if speech therapy services are warranted, with a recommended frequency and duration.

New clients are typically evaluated prior to beginning treatment. However, it may be possible to begin treatment without a full evaluation, particularly if you have a recent evaluation report from another provider or school district.

Step 3 & 4:

Treatment Plan & Therapy Sessions

An individualized treatment plan will be determined for your child with the recommended frequency and duration of sessions.

Personalized, functional, and meaningful goals will be targeted during either a recommended 30-minute or 45-minute session period.

Services are provided either via Tele-therapy, or in your child’s natural environment (i.e., home, pre-school, school, library, community).

Types of Therapy Provided:

Speech:

Speech refers to articulation or the way your child’s speech sounds. Your child may be referred for therapy when their speech becomes difficult for others to understand.

Receptive Language:

Receptive language is the “input” of your child’s language, or the ability to comprehend and understand verbal or nonverbal communication.

Expressive Language:

Expressive language is the “output” of your child’s language, or the ability to express their wants and needs through verbal or nonverbal communication.

Fluency:

Fluency refers to the smoothness of the sounds, syllables, words and phrases produced during speech. A fluency disorder is the interruption of the smoothness of speech. It is. commonly referred to as 'stuttering'.

Pragmatics:

Pragmatic language is the use of appropriate communication in social situations (knowing what to say, how to say it, and when to say it). It involves: Using language for a variety of purposes and following rules for conversation.
